Although the project has now ended, the JISC funded Click and Go Video project website still contains a wealth of resources and information necessary to evaluate and choose the most appropriate technology and pedagogy for use with video in education.

EMOL - Educational Media On Line http://www.emol.ac.uk
A large resource for educational users with many subjects covered including social history. Access is via an ATHENS account, with a link to local Athens contacts.
The site also includes clips to test your computer's download speeds. Most clips are available in Windows Media and Quicktime format.
Lifesign - http://www.lifesign.ac.uk
A JISC service set up to develop and promote the use of streaming media in the teaching of life sciences. The site has some interesting material available for educational use, including the BBC's Life of Plants, as well as other material from the likes of the Biochemical Society.
Material seems to be primarily in Windows Media Format and can be viewed in a pop up browser window or via Windows Media Player. Links to material can be copied so they may be viewed without accessing the Lifesign site.
